Crystal Garcia

Crystal Garcia, M.A. has over 14 years of work experience, with a focus on community affairs, executive assistance, human resources, and bookkeeping. Crystal has served as the Director of Community Affairs at District Council 9 IUPAT since 2019, where they have developed outreach plans, established relationships with community-based organizations, and organized community outreach events. Prior to this role, they worked as an Executive Assistant to the Business Manager/Office Manager, where they provided support to the Business Manager and honed their understanding of labor relations and contract negotiations. Additionally, Crystal has experience in human resources and bookkeeping, where they managed payroll, generated remittance reports, and maintained personnel and HR records. In 2018, they founded their own company, LaTeena LLC, where they oversee the creation and direction of the company's website and social media platforms, develops merchandise designs, and participates in pop-up shops. Crystal's previous experience also includes serving as the General Store Manager for United Colors of Benetton from 2001 to 2006.

Crystal Garcia, M.A. completed their education in a chronological sequence. From 2017 to 2020, they attended the CUNY School of Labor and Urban Studies, where they earned a Master of Arts (MA) degree in Labor Studies. Prior to that, from 2009 to 2016, they pursued their Bachelor's Degree at The City College of New York, majoring in Labor Studies. In the year 2013 to 2014, they obtained a certificate in Labor Leadership Development from Cornell ILR's Worker Institute/Workforce Development Institute.
