William King has a diverse work experience spanning over several years. William is currently the Co-Founder & Chief Technology Officer at Docufen, a position they have held since October 2022.
Prior to their current role, William worked at EMOTIV from 2017 to 2022 as the Director of Research Engineering. In this role, they designed and built a Python-based data processing pipeline for EEG data analysis in the cloud. William also contributed to the open-source PsychoPy project to enable its use with EMOTIV hardware. William utilized various machine learning models such as Linear Regression, Linear Discriminant Analysis, Gaussian Models, Tensorflow Keras, LSTM models, and CNN models for different types of data analysis.
From 2016 to 2017, William was a Co-Founder of Giftmondo. William was responsible for the conception, design, and implementation of the giftmondo.com website. William developed a gift recommender system based on Bayesian principles.
Before that, from 2009 to 2016, William served as the Head Data Scientist at Vivant. William designed and implemented a recommender engine for Telstra Treats, a mobile offers application. William also developed a prototype of a scalable recommender engine on an HDFS cluster. Additionally, at Vivant, they co-founded a novel charity lottery and contributed to product management, analytics, and fundraising efforts.
From 2004 to 2009, William worked at EmotivSystems Pty. Ltd. as the Lead Scientist/General Manager and Research Scientist. William managed a research team and supervised the development of algorithms to analyze EEG data for predicting conscious and unconscious thoughts.
Earlier in their career, William held positions as a Contract Researcher at UNSW from 2003 to 2004, where they conducted simulations and data modeling related to muscle contraction. William also worked as a Modelling and Design Specialist at VPIsystems GmbH from 2001 to 2003, where they focused on cost modeling and network design for telecommunication services.
Furthermore, William has experience as a Humbolt Research Fellow at the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg from 2000 to 2001 and as a Post Doctoral Research Fellow at the Australian National University from 1995 to 2000.
William King obtained their Bachelor's degree in Physics from UNSW, where they studied from 1987 to 1991. Subsequently, they pursued a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Atomic/Molecular Physics at UNSW from 1992 to 1995.
