Umapathy Murthy has extensive work experience in various leadership roles in the field of human resources and administration. Umapathy served as the CEO at Rajan Dental Institute since April 2019. Prior to that, they were the Head of Learning & Development at DORMA India Pvt Ltd from January 2011. Umapathy also worked as the Vice-President of Human Resources at Sathyam Cinemas from December 2009. Umapathy held the role of Head of HR & Admin at LifeCell International Pvt. Ltd from May 2013 to December 2016. Umapathy also has experience working as the Vice President of Human Resources at Nalli from March 2009 to August 2009. Other notable positions includes DGM of Talent Transformation at Reliance Retail from August 2006 to December 2008, and Senior Manager of Corporate HR at Marg Constructions Ltd in June 2006. Umapathy started their career as a Program Officer/Program Director at Anna Institute of Management in October 1984.

Umapathy Murthy completed their Bachelor's degree at Madras Christian College Higher Secondary School from 1971 to 1977. Umapathy then pursued a Master's degree in Personnel Management and Human Resources at the University of Madras from 1981 to 1983.
