Ray Blinman is a Principal of Douglas Partners and has over 25 years of experience in geotechnical engineering, over half of which has been with DP in Sydney. He graduated from UTS with a Bachelor of Engineering Degree (Honours, 1992) and from UNSW with a Masters of Engineering Science (Geotechnical, 2009).
Ray provides a broad range of geotechnical and environmental consulting services to clients that include local and state governments, small to large developers and contractors, and other related engineering and consultant firms. Ray's areas of practice cover the planning, undertaking and management of a very broad range of geotechnical investigations, pavement and retaining wall designs, expert witnessing and provision of construction services for a variety of civil and building projects involving foundations, excavations, retaining walls, pavements, deep cuts and fills, earthworks, slope stability and materials assessment.
Ray has particular interests in earthworks projects recently including the remediation of deep-seated landslides below proposed residential subdivisions and the monitoring of deep fills subject to creep settlement. Other interests include pavement investigations, rehabilitation and design, which has included several large hardstands, container parks, State Highways and other road projects covering flexible, rigid and segmental designs.
Recent major project experience has included the role of Project Director for two stages of the Sydney Metro between Chatswood and Bankstown. Recent Project Manager roles include the Glenfield to Leppington Rail Line (South West Rail Link) and Castle Towers Expansion Project ($1b shopping centre upgrade). Additionally, Ray was the Geotechnical Design Reviewer for several major highway upgrades throughout Western Australia. Ray has a well-established client base in the greater Sydney region within the residential, commercial and industrial markets.
