Leigh Mutton

Leigh Mutton currently serves as a Project Engineer and Project Environmental Lead for the Whakatipu Transport Programme Alliance at Downer since February 2024. Previous experience includes roles as a Project Engineer for Rivers at Environment Southland, where flood bank improvement projects were delivered, and as a Researcher and Project Lead at Scion, focusing on native forest establishment and wilding pine control. Additional positions have included a GIS Technician at GeoVille Information Systems and Data Processing GmbH, an Energy Intern at Insembel Sustainable Events, and a Railways Contract Manager at Downer, managing various railway construction projects. Early career experiences ranged from geotechnical assessments at Geotechnics Ltd to diverse marine and tourism roles from 2006 to 2012. Academic credentials include an MSc in Environmental Management of Mountain Regions from Universität Innsbruck and Free University of Bozen-Bolzano, a Graduate Diploma in Highway Engineering from Western Institute of Technology, and a BSc in Biology, Ecology, and Geography from The University of Auckland, along with ongoing studies in Sport Leadership at Manukau Institute of Technology.
