Laura Perna

Laura Perna is an experienced professional with a diverse background in community outreach, education, and environmental coordination. Currently serving as a Naturalist Educator at Downers Grove Park District since December 2021, Laura previously held positions including Community Relations Specialist at Field Trip Factory and Community Outreach Coordinator at KOVAL Distillery. Laura's earlier career includes a significant role as NE IL Coordinator for the Illinois Department of Natural Resources, where outreach and coordination of agency initiatives with nonprofit and governmental entities in Northeast Illinois were key responsibilities. Laura also made notable contributions as Committeewoman for the Democratic Party of Oak Park, overseeing fundraising and volunteer management, and served as President of the Park District of Oak Park, successfully managing a substantial environmental cleanup project. Laura earned a BA in Biological Sciences from Southern Illinois University, Carbondale, and has furthered education at UIC.
