Mads Thygesen is a prominent academic and dramaturg with extensive experience in higher education and the performing arts. Since August 2022, Mads serves as a board member and professor at the Oslo National Academy of the Arts. Mads has been a lecturer in dramaturgy at Aarhus Universitet since January 2010 and has contributed as a censor at both Aarhus Universitet and the University of Copenhagen. Additionally, Mads is a board member at Kungliga Dramatiska Teatern and has been involved with the editorial team of Peripeti since its establishment in 2004. Mads' freelance work as a dramaturg spans from January 1999 to November 2022, including a recent role at Teatret Svalegangen. Other notable positions include membership on the advisory board of the University of the Arts Helsinki and chairmanship of the Nordplus network for Nordic and Baltic theatre and dance institutions. Mads holds a PhD in Dramaturgy and an MA from Aarhus University, along with additional qualifications in systemic leadership.
