Raphael Gutierrez has several years of work experience in various roles. Raphael began their career in 2006 as an Aircraft Avionics Technician in the US Army Reserves. In 2009, they transitioned to the US Army as a 15H Aircraft Pneudraulics Repairer, serving until 2016. Following their military service, Gutierrez joined Kansas State University as a Military-Connected Student Representative, where they acted as a liaison between faculty/administration and the military student community. In 2022, they worked as a Drone Pilot at DroneHive, Inc., collecting agricultural data remotely using autonomous drone platforms. Currently, Gutierrez holds positions at DroneUp, starting as a Flight Engineer in October 2022 and later becoming a Flight Engineer - Shift Lead in January 2023.

Raphael Gutierrez earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering Technology with a specialization in Unmanned Aircraft Systems Design and Integration from Kansas State University. Raphael attended the university from 2017 to 2021, completing their undergraduate studies in that time. In January 2020, Gutierrez also obtained a certification in 14 CFR Part 107 from the Federal Aviation Administration.
