Katie Friis

Katie Friis has a diverse work experience spanning multiple industries and roles. Katie is currently the Head of IT Packaging North Europe at DS Smith since April 2023. Before that, they worked at Shell, where they held various positions, including IT Director Trading & Supply Crude & Products from October 2020 to April 2023 and IT Director Refining & Chemicals Manufacturing from June 2018 to September 2020. Prior to Shell, they worked at Queen Mary University of London as Deputy Director/Office of the CIO, IT Services from January 2017 to June 2018 and as Assistant Director Projects & Change from July 2015 to December 2016. Katie also has experience at A.P. Moller - Maersk as a Programme Manager/CSI BAU manager from August 2011 to July 2015 and as a Process Excellence Manager from January 2011 to July 2011. Additionally, they have held roles at Maersk Line, G4S, FedEx Express, and D/S Norden earlier in their career. Overall, Katie has demonstrated expertise in IT leadership, stakeholder management, project management, and operational excellence throughout their professional journey.

Katie Friis completed their Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in Modern languages (French, Russian, Spanish) from Durham University in 1995. Katie later pursued a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree from The Open University, which they completed in 2012.
