Brent Shaw has a diverse and extensive work experience in the field of meteorology and software engineering. Brent began their career in 1991, serving as an Advanced Weather Officer in the United States Air Force for six years, followed by seven years in the active reserve. During this time, they provided aviation weather forecasting services, served as a technical program manager, and developed new capabilities for the Air Force Weather Agency.
In 1997, Brent joined The Aerospace Corporation as a Technical Staff Member, where they conducted applied research and development for the Defense Meteorological Satellite Program. Brent then moved on to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) in 2000 as a CIRA Research Associate, focusing on data assimilation, mesoscale numerical weather prediction, and algorithm development.
After their time at NOAA, Brent worked at Weathernews as a Scientific Technologist, leading efforts to incorporate new technology into meteorological forecast operations. Brent designed and implemented a complete operational mesoscale numerical weather prediction system and provided enhanced visualization tools for forecast staff.
In 2007, Brent joined Weather Decision Technologies, Inc. as a Senior VP of Expert Solutions, leading the company's meteorological innovation team. Brent specialized in aviation weather, numerical weather prediction, meteorological satellite applications, radar algorithms, and weather data processing and visualization. Brent also managed a $3MM annual domestic weather content business unit.
In 2015, Brent transitioned to Iteris, Inc. as a VP of Software Engineering and Weather Content. Brent was responsible for leading a team of software developers in creating cloud-based data storage and analytics for agricultural and weather analytics. Brent also served as a subject matter expert in meteorological and environmental science.
Brent's most recent position is at DTN, where they have held multiple roles since 2020. Currently, they are serving as the Sr. Director of Scientific and Content Engineering. Prior to this, they were the Director of Core Content Services and the Senior Director of Software Development.

Brent Shaw has a Master of Science (MS) degree in Atmospheric Science from Colorado State University, which they obtained from 1993 to 1995. Prior to that, they earned a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Atmospheric Science from The University of Kansas, from 1986 to 1990. In terms of additional certifications, Brent Shaw is a Certified Consulting Meteorologist from the American Meteorological Society, obtained in 2013. Brent also holds a Precision Nutrition Level 1 certification from Precision Nutrition, acquired in October 2021.
