Anastasia Shuba

Senior Privacy Engineer at DuckDuckGo

Anastasia Shuba has extensive work experience in the software engineering field. Anastasia is currently employed as a Senior Privacy Engineer at DuckDuckGo, starting in May 2022. Prior to this, they worked at Broadcom Software as an R&D Engineer Software 3 from November 2019 to April 2022. Anastasia also worked as a Senior Software Engineer at Symantec from August 2019 to November 2019.

Before their roles at Broadcom Software and Symantec, Anastasia served as a Graduate Student Researcher at UC Irvine from October 2014 to June 2019. During their time at UC Irvine, they focused on designing and implementing Android applications to enhance privacy and developing machine learning models to analyze mobile network traffic.

Additionally, Anastasia gained practical experience through internships. Anastasia worked as a Software Engineering Intern at Symantec from June 2018 to September 2018. Prior to this, they were a Software Engineering Intern at Metronome Software from October 2012 to September 2016, and a Software Development Intern at Praxis BioSciences from June 2012 to September 2012.

Anastasia's earlier work experience includes serving as an Undergraduate Research Assistant at UC Irvine in April 2012 and as a Tutor at Newport Mesa Unified School District from September 2010 to March 2012, where they provided support in math and physics, as well as administrative tasks such as grading papers. Anastasia also interned at the Discovery Science Center during July 2011 to September 2011.

Anastasia Shuba pursued their education in the field of Computer Engineering at UC Irvine. Anastasia obtained their Bachelor of Science degree from 2010 to 2014. Anastasia then went on to pursue a Master of Science degree from 2014 to 2016 at the same institution. Anastasia Shuba further continued their studies at UC Irvine, and from 2016 to 2019, they successfully completed their Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Computer Engineering.
