Drew Colston

Director, User Insights at DuckDuckGo

Drew Colston has a diverse work experience spanning over 25 years. Drew began their career as a Laboratory Technician at the University of Florida, supporting research professors and biological scientists in both Plant Physiology and Entomology research labs. In these roles, they collected field samples, managed research groves, and processed data using software such as SAS and ArcGIS.

Following their time at the University of Florida, Colston joined Disney as a Temp Stat Associate, where they provided support to the Walt Disney World research team by analyzing survey data and preparing reports for clients. Drew then progressed through various roles within the Visitation Research team at Disney Parks & Resorts, starting as a Research Analyst and eventually becoming a Sr. Manager of Consumer Insight. In these positions, they focused on demographic and behavioral profiling of Walt Disney World visitors and led initiatives to standardize methodologies and research terminology. Colston also played a key role in the opening of Shanghai Disneyland, leading the development of survey methodologies and procedures.

After leaving Disney, Colston joined Integrated Insight, Inc as a Sr. Consultant. In this role, they worked with clients to help them understand how data-driven analytics can improve their businesses. Drew primarily used primary quantitative research processes to measure their varied business needs and provided actionable insights. Drew'sresponsibilities included survey development and fielding, data analysis, and reporting with recommendations.

Currently, Colston is working at DuckDuckGo as a User Insight professional.

Drew Colston attended Francis Marion University from 1988 to 1992, where they obtained a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Mathematics.
