Douglas Webster's work experience begins in 1988 when they joined Marconi Simulation as a Junior Software Engineer. Douglas worked on producing software for simulators and training systems, providing a Motorola 68020 based bootstrap/loader for a simulator delivered to the Royal Air Force. Douglas also created device drivers for porting ADA applications onto specific hardware. In 1995, they joined Smiths Industries Aerospace as a Software Engineer, where they produced embedded firmware for commercial aircraft products and successfully updated software for an Air Data Computer delivered to Northwest Airlines. Douglas also created data dictionary and requirements traceability applications. In 1998, they briefly worked at JVC Manufacturing U.K. Ltd. as a Software Engineer. Douglas then joined NCR Financial Solutions Group Ltd. as a Senior Software Engineer, responsible for developing and maintaining PC-based device management software and embedded firmware for various ATM peripheral devices. In 2008, they joined Johnson Matthey Battery Systems as a Senior Software Engineer, designing and building battery systems for electric vehicles and implementing on-board diagnostics. Most recently, in 2016, they joined Dukosi as a Senior Software Engineer, where they are involved in developing battery management technology and working on the next generation of their embedded software product.
Douglas Webster obtained a Higher National Diploma in Computer Studies from Robert Gordon's Institute of Technology, where they studied from 1984 to 1986. Following this, they pursued a Postgraduate Diploma in Software Engineering at Dundee Institute of Technology from 1987 to 1988.
