Aldert Vermeulen has an extensive career in the field of music and conducting, currently serving as an assistant conductor at the Dutch National Opera & Ballet since September 2013. Previous experience includes the role of Director of Artistic Planning at the Dallas Symphony Orchestra from August 2011 to June 2013, where responsibilities included programming classical series and contracting soloists and guest conductors. Aldert also held the position of Head of Music at De Nederlandse Opera from 2006 to March 2011, overseeing music staff, rehearsals, vocal coaching, and conducting. Earlier roles include Head of Music and Assistant Conductor at Bayreuther Festspiele from June 2001 to July 2005, and Head of Music and Assistant Conductor at De Nederlandse Reisopera from August 1997 to October 2003. Aldert Vermeulen graduated with a UM degree in piano from the Sweelinck Conservatorium, having studied there from 1981 to 1987, and completed Gymnasium at OSG from 1975 to 1981.
