Alun Shurmer

Alun Shurmer has a diverse and extensive work experience. Alun began their career at Transport For London in 2002 as a Communications Manager and stayed in that role until 2006. From 2006 to 2007, they worked as the Head of Communications for Plaid Cymru. Following that, they joined BBC Cymru Wales as the Head of Communications from 2007 to 2011. In 2012, they joined Dŵr Cymru Welsh Water and held various roles, including Director of Communications, Director of Customer Strategy and Communications, and currently serves as the Director of Customer Strategy and Engagement. In 2013, they also served as a Wales Advisory Board Member for Business in the Community. Additionally, from 2014 to 2016, they were a Board Member for the Wales Tourism Advisory Board. Overall, Alun Shurmer has demonstrated their expertise in communication and strategy in the public and private sectors.

Alun Shurmer attended Aberystwyth University from 1995 to 1998, where they completed their undergraduate studies in International Politics and Strategic Studies, earning a BSc Econ degree. Alun furthered their education at Aberystwyth University from 1998 to 1999 and obtained a Master of Science in Economics (MSc Econ) with a focus on International History. In 2014, Alun Shurmer attended the Cranfield School of Management for a year-long program called the Advanced Development Programme, although the specific degree obtained is not mentioned.
