Michael Town

Michael Town is a versatile research scientist and educator with a strong focus on atmospheric sciences and social justice in education. Currently serving as a Research Scientist and Affiliate at Earth and Space Research since November 2022, Michael also owns and leads Ballard Data Science, which emphasizes social justice in data science and education. Prior roles include volunteer service as a Nordic Ski Patrol member, and contributions as a Research Scientist at Bjerknes Centre for Climate Research and the University of Washington. Michael has extensive teaching experience, having developed project-based and anti-racist curricula in secondary science and engineering at Lakeside School and other institutions. Michael holds a PhD in Atmospheric Sciences from the University of Washington, along with a Master's in Teaching from Seattle University, a Master's in Atmospheric Science, and a Bachelor's in Physics from the University of Michigan.
