Jeffrey Stein

Jeffrey Stein is an adjunct professor at New York University, teaching "Animals and the Law" in the Department of Environmental Studies since January 2024. Currently serving as an Associate Attorney in the Sustainable Food & Farming Program at Earthjustice since August 2023, Jeffrey Stein previously held positions such as Litigation Counsel at the PETA Foundation and Legal Fellow at Earthjustice. Early career experiences include law clerk roles for judges in both U.S. Courts of Appeals and U.S. District Courts, as well as legal internships with the Animal Legal Defense Fund, the ACLU, and the Knight First Amendment Institute. Jeffrey Stein's journalism background includes reporting and editing for City & State magazine. Educational credentials include a Doctor of Law (JD) from Columbia Law School and a Bachelor of Arts in Creative Writing and Music from the University of Southern California.
