Heather Toomey

Heather Toomey is an experienced art educator with a robust teaching career beginning in 2006. Presently serving as an Art Teacher at East Islip School District since August 2017, Toomey has earned recognition, including the 2014 Long Island Press "Best Teacher on Long Island." Previous roles include Art Teacher and Permanent Substitute at East Islip School District, along with positions at Long Island High School for the Arts, South Side High School, Plainview-Old Bethpage High School, and Oceanside School District. Toomey holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Fine/Studio Arts from Purchase College and a Master of Science in Education in Art Education from Queens College. Additional responsibilities encompass coaching and leadership roles in various extracurricular activities, demonstrating a commitment to both academic and community engagement in the arts.
