John Sturgeon

John Sturgeon currently serves as Finance Director at East Midlands Railway since January 2023, having previously held the position of Financial Controller at West Midlands Trains from November 2020 to January 2023. Prior to these roles, John Sturgeon was Head of Financial Accounting at Abellio Group from July 2019 to November 2020 and worked at PwC from September 2013 to July 2019, progressing from Senior Audit Associate focusing on Oil and Gas clients to Manager in both the Glasgow and Aberdeen offices. Earlier in career, John Sturgeon trained as a C.A Audit Associate at CA training from September 2010 to August 2013. Academic qualifications include a Chartered Accountancy degree from ICAS (2010 - 2013) and a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and Finance from the University of Glasgow (2006 - 2010), following education at Airdrie Academy (2000 - 2006).
