Dieter Ernst serves as a Senior Fellow at the East-West Center since 1999, focusing on research related to global production networks, R&D internationalization in high-tech industries, and industrial and innovation policies in China, the US, and emerging economies, with particular emphasis on standards and intellectual property rights. Additionally, Dieter is a member of the US National Academies’ Committee on Global Approaches to Advanced Computing. Previously, Dieter held the position of research director at the Berkeley Roundtable on the International Economy at UC Berkeley from 1992 to 1996 and served as a senior advisor at the OECD in Paris from 1986 to 1992. Dieter Ernst earned a Master of Arts (M.A.) in Development Economics and International Development from Freie Universität Berlin.
