Leanne Haggerty

Leanne Haggerty is an experienced bioinformatician specializing in computational research and software development. Currently serving as the Ensembl Genebuild Project Leader and Ensembl Developer at the European Bioinformatics Institute since November 2016, Leanne previously held positions as a Software Developer at the University of Technology, Sydney, and a Research Officer at the University of Queensland, focusing on lateral genetic transfer in the microbial biosphere. Leanne's academic background includes a PhD at NUI Maynooth, where research revolved around bacterial evolution, complemented by postdoctoral research and lecturing roles in bioinformatics and programming. With a strong foundation in genetics and bioinformatics from Maynooth University, Leanne has contributed significantly to research and education in the field.
