Paul Zhu has over 20 years of experience in the engineering field. Paul began their career in 1997 as an Engineer at Trango Systems, where they developed, designed, tested, and documented 2.4G and 4.8G wireless video transmitters and receivers. In 1999, they worked as an Engineer at Sony Electronics, where they designed and tested CDMA mobile handsets. That same year, they also worked as a Senior Engineer at Motorola, where they developed and tested 2G/3G mobile handset hardware. In 2005, they worked as a Research Assistant at Cornell University, where they conducted research in single-molecule biophysics using nanofabricated devices and fluorescence microscopy. In 2012, they worked as a Senior Engineer at Celestica, where they integrated a medical ultrasound display for a major client. Later that year, they worked as a Senior Engineer at Exponent, performing failure analysis on various electrical, battery, and mechanical systems. In 2013, they worked as a Data Analysis Engineer/Researcher at Northwest Contract Services and an RF Engineer at Nytec. Finally, in 2017, they worked as a Senior Electrical/Digital Engineer at Echodyne Corp, where they designed and developed mixed signal embedded biometric sensing devices.

Paul Zhu has a diverse educational background. Paul obtained a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of Kentucky in 1995-1996, a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering from The Johns Hopkins University in 1995-1996, and a Ph.D in Applied Physics, Managerial Economics, and Molecular Biology from Cornell University in 2004-2012. Paul also holds a Professional Certificate Program in Engineering from MIT xPRO, which they obtained in 2021. Additionally, Paul Zhu is a Licensed Professional Engineer, which they obtained from the Washington State Board of Licensing in 2013, and they have a certification in Architecture and Systems Engineering: Models and Methods to Manage Complex Systems from MIT xPRO, which they obtained in 2021.
