Martin Peters

Chief of Staff & General Counsel at Eckerd Connects

Martin joined Eckerd Connects in 2008 and currently serves as the Chief of Staff and General Counsel. He plans and directs administrative and operational activities for the President and CEO in addition to coordinating and managing critical issues such as board engagement, government affairs, and media relations. In his capacity as General Counsel, Martin’s portfolio includes a wide variety of legal projects such as contract review and formation, enterprise risk management functions, and advising the Eckerd Connects leadership team on various legal and regulatory issues.

Martin has served in a variety of executive roles for the organization including Interim Chief External Relations Officer, where he was responsible for raising over $1.6M in private philanthropy and $1M in legislative appropriations to provide quality programming for the children, young adults, and families served by Eckerd Connects. Martin has also held various roles in operations, facilities management, procurement, contract management, and external relations. This multi-disciplinary background has provided Martin with a strong understanding of the many programs and services provided by Eckerd Connects.

A lifelong learner, Martin earned a bachelor’s degree in Business Management and a Juris Doctor degree. While in law school, Martin was selected for a coveted internship with the United States Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Florida. In 2020, Martin was chosen as a Bloomberg Fellow at The Johns Hopkins University where he earned his Master of Public Health degree with a focus on risks to adolescent health. Martin is currently pursuing an LL.M. degree in Business Law with a concentration in Employment Law and Human Resources Risk Management at Florida State University College of Law.
