Dr. Ekwow Spio-Garbrah

President of African Operations, and Managing Director, Global Operations at ECO Capacity Exchange

Dr. Ekwow Spio-Garbrah has extensive work experience in various roles and industries. Dr. Ekwow served as the Executive Chair at the African Business Centre for Developing Education (ABCDE), where they facilitated non-cash exchanges of goods and services using a new digital currency called ECO.

Dr. Spio-Garbrah also held executive chair positions at SolarFi and SunPowerd, focusing on the development and implementation of solar energy solutions to address the power deficit in Africa.

In addition, they served as the Minister for Trade and Industry for the Government of Ghana and played a key role in initiating, planning, and managing the African Development Bank's 50th anniversary celebrations as a Consulting Coordinator.

Dr. Spio-Garbrah has also worked as a Senior Advisor (Africa) at Fusion Telecommunications International, an Advisor and Member of the International Advisory Board at 4G Africa AG, and the President of Dominion University College, where they provided strategic leadership and oversaw academic and administrative staff.

Furthermore, they served as the Chief Executive Officer of Action Chapel International, the largest Charismatic Church in Ghana, where they managed strategic planning, financial management, and operational leadership of affiliated churches across multiple countries.

Additionally, Dr. Spio-Garbrah served as the Global Entrepreneurship Week-Ghana Ambassador for the Kauffman Foundation, promoting entrepreneurship across the country.

Overall, their work experience encompasses various leadership roles in entrepreneurship, energy, education, government, and the non-profit sector.

Dr. Ekwow Spio-Garbrah completed their education in a variety of prestigious institutions. Dr. Ekwow attended Achimota School from 1963 to 1970, where they obtained their A-Levels in General Arts. Dr. Ekwow then enrolled at the University of Ghana, completing their Bachelor of Arts (BA) in English Language and Literature/Letters from 1970 to 1973. Later, they pursued a Graduate Diploma in Journalism and Communication at the University of Ghana from 1974 to 1976. Continuing their academic journey, they pursued a Master of Arts (MA) in International Affairs at Ohio University from 1978 to 1979. Lastly, they attended New York University from 1983 to 1984, obtaining a Graduate Certificate in International Banking and Finance.
