Michael McCann has a diverse and extensive work experience in the field of law enforcement and related organizations. Michael began their career as a dispatcher and police officer at the Haworth Police Department in 1989. Michael later joined the River Vale Police Department, where they served as a detective and detective sergeant, managing investigative matters and working on cases with agencies nationwide.
In 2002, McCann moved up the ranks to become the Captain of Police at the River Vale Police Department, eventually becoming the Chief of Police. During their tenure as Chief, McCann oversaw the department's operations and responsibilities in northern Bergen County, New Jersey.
In 2010, McCann joined the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and attended the FBI National Academy, graduating from the 240th Session. Michael also served as the President of the FBI National Academy- NJ Chapter in 2015, and currently holds the role of Immediate Past President.
McCann's work in the law enforcement field also extends to their roles outside of traditional police departments. Michael has been involved with the International Association of Chiefs of Police as a committee member since 2017, and is a member of the FBINAA Charitable Foundation as an ambassador since 2020. In 2021, they joined Survive First as a member of the Board of Advisors.
Most recently, McCann has been working at ecoATM Gazelle since 2014, initially as the Director of Law Enforcement Relations (East Coast), and currently as the Senior Director of Law Enforcement Relations. In this role, they have led a team that partners with law enforcement agencies nationwide to combat cell phone theft. The company has seen significant growth during their tenure, expanding from 700 locations in 35 states to operating in all 50 states and internationally with close to 6000 locations.
Michael McCann has a diverse education history related to criminal justice. In 1985, they attended Montclair State University, where they focused on majoring in Sociology and minoring in Criminal Justice. Michael completed their studies at this university in 1988, though it is unclear whether they obtained a degree. McCann then enrolled in Columbia Southern University from 1999 to 2002, where they earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice Administration. Moreover, in 2010, they briefly attended the University of Virginia, participating in the FBI NA Leadership Program, which specialized in Criminal Justice Education.
