Birgit Lia Fain

Birgit Lia Fain (Altmann) is an experienced Economic Affairs Officer at the ECLAC (United Nations Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean) since April 2021, focusing on economic development. Previously, Birgit served as an Associate Economic Affairs Officer at the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe, specializing in forestry and sustainable fashion. Birgit also held the position of Associate Statistician at ECLAC, working on environmental-economic accounting projects. Earlier roles include advisory work at the German Federal Ministry of Finance and various consulting and research positions. Birgit holds multiple degrees, including a Master of Science in Economics from the Stockholm School of Economics and two Bachelor's degrees from the University of Passau.
