James Smith

James Smith is an experienced geotechnical consultant currently employed at Ecora since June 2023. Prior to this role, James worked as an engineering geologist at Tonkin + Taylor from April 2018 to September 2022, and served as a contract engineering geologist at Rio Tinto from October 2014 to August 2015. James began the career as an exploration geologist at St Barbara Limited from February 2012 to July 2014, and held an earlier position as a shop assistant and ski technician at Intersport Austria from November 2015 to March 2016. Educational qualifications include a Professional Master in Engineering Geology from the University of Canterbury (2017-2018) and a Bachelor of Science with Honors in Geological and Earth Sciences from the University of Otago (2008-2011).
