Lydia Axelrod is a Research Associate at Ecovative, specializing in mycelium technology since February 2023. Prior experience includes serving as an Undergraduate Research Assistant at the University of Vermont, where Lydia isolated lignin through mango endocarp degradation for creating a biodegradable film for textiles. Additionally, Lydia worked as a Materials Engineer Intern at Bucha Bio, Inc., focusing on the growth and analysis of Bacterial Nanocellulose textile sheets to enhance biotextile properties. Lydia holds a General Engineering degree in Biomaterials Engineering from the University of Vermont and is currently pursuing a Master of Science in Bioengineering at Tufts University, expected to graduate in May 2026.
