Geoff Horst

Geoff Horst is an accomplished professional in the field of new product development and commercialization, currently serving at Kemin Industries since April 2017. As a board member at Ecovia Renewables, Inc. and a consultant since June 2016, Geoff provides due diligence support for venture capital and angel investment groups, as well as technical and business development assistance to bio-based startups. With a strong entrepreneurial background, Geoff co-founded Algal Scientific Corporation, which was acquired by Kemin Industries, where Geoff held the roles of CEO and Chief Science Officer. Geoff holds a PhD in Fisheries and Wildlife/Ecology, Evolutionary Biology and Behavior from Michigan State University, an MS in Marine Biology from California State University, Northridge, and a BS in Oceanography from the University of Michigan, complemented by executive education at Harvard Business School in entrepreneurial ventures. Areas of expertise include animal/human health ingredients, fermentation scale-up, wastewater treatment processes, and strategic partnering.
