Derek Wong

Derek Wong currently serves as Senior Manager of New Business Development at Ecovyst, Inc. since April 2023. Previously, Derek held the position of Senior Global Product Manager at Gelest from December 2020 to March 2023, managing a complex Silane chemistry product portfolio that included over 2,000 products and generated substantial annual sales. Prior to Gelest, Derek worked at BASF from May 2009 to August 2019 in various roles including Global Product Manager for Pharma Solutions, where responsibilities included overseeing the Ibuprofen API business, and Global Innovation Manager for Fuels & Lubricant Solutions, focusing on new product development. Derek’s career began at Ciba from June 2005 to April 2009, holding positions such as Technical Manager and Senior Scientist. Educational qualifications include a Post-Doctoral Fellowship in Chemical Engineering from Columbia University, a PhD in Polymer Science from the University of Connecticut, and a BSE in Materials Science & Engineering from the University of Pennsylvania.
