Jen Mathia

Principal Scientist/operations Director at ECT

Jen Mathia has a strong background in environmental science and consulting. Jen began their career at Golder Associates as a Staff Scientist, where they conducted various water resource studies and performed data collection and analysis. Jen also conducted fish and invertebrate monitoring, water quality assessment, and toxicological studies. Jen later advanced to the role of Intermediate Aquatic Biologist, where they led and managed field crews and conducted fish habitat evaluations for a range of projects in land development, power, mining, and forestry. In 2016, they joined Environmental Consulting & Technology, Inc. (ECT) as a Staff Scientist II and progressed to the roles of Senior Scientist and Water Permitting and Compliance Group Leader. Currently, Jen holds the position of Principal Scientist/Operations Director at ECT.

Jen Mathia completed their Master of Marine Management degree from Dalhousie University in 2004-2005. Before that, they earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Marine and Freshwater Biology from the University of Guelph from 2000 to 2004. In addition to their formal education, Jen Mathia obtained several certifications throughout their career. These include Class 2 Backpack Electrofishing from Golder Associates in April 2014, First Aid and CPR from the Red Cross in April 2014, and Ichthyology Certificate of Completion from the Royal Ontario Museum in April 2012. Jen also obtained WHMIS certification in April 2012, MED A3 certification from Transport Canada in September 2011, OSHA Hazardous Waste Safety for the General Site Worker 40-Hour certification from OSHA in June 2009, and a Qualified Stormwater Management Inspector certification from the Florida Department of Environmental Protection in May 2009.
