Shawn Lawson

Shawn Lawson has a diverse and extensive work experience spanning over several companies and industries. Their most recent role is as the VP Secure Infrastructure & IT at Edelman Financial Engines since September 2021. Prior to this, they held various positions at Silicon Valley Bank, including Head of IT Engineering and Operations from October 2018 to May 2021, Senior Director of Cybersecurity from April 2015 to October 2018, and Cybersecurity Architect/Sr. Analyst from August 2010 to April 2015.

Before joining Silicon Valley Bank, Shawn worked as a Systems Engineer at Cisco Systems from March 2008 to July 2009 and as a Security Engineer at Accuvant from April 2006 to January 2008. Shawn also gained experience at NetVision as a Product Manager/Senior Systems Engineer from November 2001 to November 2005, at UBS as an IT Security Analyst in September 2001, at Greenwich Technology Partners as a Sr. Network Engineer from February 1999 to March 2001, and at IBM as an IT Specialist from June 1996 to February 1999.

Shawn's career began as a Software Engineer at InsurQuote from April 1995 to April 1996. Throughout their career, they have developed a strong background in infrastructure and IT security, contributing to the success of the organizations they have worked with.

Shawn Lawson completed a Master of Business Administration - MBA in Business Analytics from the W. P. Carey School of Business at Arizona State University from 2019 to 2021. Prior to that, they obtained a Bachelor of Science (BS) in Computer Science from Brigham Young University. Additionally, Shawn holds several certifications including CISM from ISACA (obtained in January 2014), CISSP from (ISC)² (obtained in May 2000), CCSE from Check Point Software Technologies, Ltd. (obtained in 2000), MCSE from Microsoft (obtained in 1998), and CCNA from Cisco.
