Jacob Nell has a diverse work experience spanning over several years. Jacob is currently working as the Head of Analytics at EDF Trading since March 2023. Prior to that, they worked as an Economist at the IMF, Kyiv School of Economics for a brief period in May 2022. Jacob also held various roles at Morgan Stanley, including Head of European Economics, Chief UK Economist, and Senior Russian Economist from 2010 to 2022. Before that, they worked as a Commercial Director at TNK-BP, where they were responsible for securing investment approval and leading projects. Jacob also worked as a Policy Adviser at BP, Head of Regions and Countries Team at the UK Treasury, and Senior Adviser at the Coalition Provisional Authority's Ministry of Finance. Jacob was a Policy Adviser in the Prime Minister's Policy Directorate at No. 10 Downing Street, focusing on education and finance issues. Jacob started their career as the Head of the Macroeconomic Policy Unit at the Ministry of Finance in Azerbaijan and also worked as a Policy Adviser at the UK Treasury.
Jacob Nell attended the University of Oxford from 1989 to 1993, where they earned a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree. During their time at Oxford, they studied Politics, Philosophy, and Economics. Following that, from 1994 to 1997, Jacob Nell pursued a Master of Science (MSc) degree in Economics at the University of London.
