Ian Potter

Ian Potter has a diverse and extensive work experience spanning over two decades. Ian has worked in various roles and companies, showcasing their expertise and skills in finance and investment.

Starting in 1998, Ian worked at EY, where they held the positions of Senior Accountant Audit and later Senior Executive in Transaction Services until 2004. Following this, from 2004 to 2013, they served as Director of Leveraged Finance at RBS.

In 2013, Ian joined Octopus Investments as an Investment Director. Ian worked in two different divisions within the company: Development Capital and Intermediate Capital. During their tenure, they focused on investment opportunities in growth-stage businesses, specifically in the B2B tech and tech-enabled sectors.

From 2020 to 2022, Ian worked at Export Development Canada as an International Financing Direct. Here, they provided bespoke financings to growth-stage and mid-market businesses requiring capital for international acquisitions, expansion, and investment.

Currently, Ian is serving as a Financial Consultant & Advisor, offering their expertise to growth-stage and start-up businesses. Ian assists in various corporate initiatives and financial goals, including equity and debt capital raising processes, M&A transactions, and other financial support.

Additionally, from January 2023, Ian will be assuming the role of Group CFO at EDGE10 Group, a leading B2B tech business backed by Octopus Ventures. The company provides data analytics systems to sport organizations worldwide, empowering them with actionable insights for better decision making.

Throughout their career, Ian's work experience demonstrates their proficiency in finance, investment, and advisory services, particularly in the areas of capital raising, mergers and acquisitions, and strategic financial planning.

Ian Potter obtained a Bachelor of Commerce degree in Accounting and Finance from the University of Ottawa in 1997. Ian later obtained the certification of Chartered Accountant from the Chartered Professional Accountants of Ontario in 1999.
