Wei Chen

Wei Chen has a diverse work experience in GIS and data analysis. Their most recent role was as the Manager of GIS at Edgewater Midstream since 2020. Prior to that, they worked at Enbridge for seven years as a Sr. GIS Analyst - Sr. GIS Advisor, where they played a key role in a data migration project and served as an ArcGIS database administrator. Before that, Wei Chen worked at Waste Management for five years as a GIS/Pricing Analyst, where they successfully managed Parcel Data Analysis projects and created database protocols. Wei also worked as a Research Assistant at The Ohio State University, supporting exploration activities on Mars using GIS tools and technology. In addition, Wei Chen worked as a Transportation Planner at the Shanghai Municipal Engineering Design Institute and as a GIS Analyst at Shenzhen Beilinyuan Landscape Architecture Planning & Design Co., Ltd. during the early years of their career.

Wei Chen obtained a Bachelor's degree in Urban Planning from Wuhan Technical University of Surveying and Mapping in the years 1995 to 1999. Following that, from 1999 to 2002, they pursued a Master of Science (M.S.) in GIS in Urban Planning at Wuhan University. In 2002, Wei Chen continued their education at Kyushu University, where they completed a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Transportation Planning between 2002 and 2005. Lastly, Wei Chen obtained a Master of Science (MS) degree in Geographic Information Science and Cartography from The Ohio State University, which they attended from 2006 to 2008.

In terms of certifications, Wei Chen obtained a Project Management Professional (PMP) certification from the Project Management Institute in January 2021. Wei also received training in ArcGIS Online Subscriptions for Organizations: Publisher Workflows from Esri, although the specific details of when and where this training occurred are not provided.
