Derek Chen

Derek Chen's work experience includes serving as the Chief Equity and Assessment Officer at the Education Quality and Accountability Office (EQAO) since September 2022. Prior to that, they worked at the Toronto Catholic District School Board in various roles such as Superintendent, Principal, Vice Principal, and Teacher from 2008 to 2022. Derek also served as the Head of Campus at Durham College and an ESL Teacher at St. Clair College. Furthermore, Derek worked as a Teacher at the Toronto Catholic District School Board from 1999 to 2006.

Derek Chen's education history includes a Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com.) degree from Queen's University, which they completed from 1992 to 1996. Derek later pursued a Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) degree from the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education of the University of Toronto from 1998 to 1999. Derek also holds a Master of Education (M.Ed.) degree from the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education of the University of Toronto, obtained between 2004 and 2006. Additionally, they completed the Supervisory Officer Qualifications Program at the Ontario Principals' Council from 2016 to 2018.
