Jos Jonkers has a diverse and extensive work experience in the field of molecular oncogenetics and cancer therapeutics. Starting in 1990, they worked as a PhD student at the Netherlands Cancer Institute. Jos then moved on to become a postdoctoral researcher at the same institute from 1996 to 2002. In 2002, Jos joined the Wellcome Trust Sanger Institute as a Senior Research Associate for a brief period of time before returning to the Netherlands Cancer Institute. At the Netherlands Cancer Institute, they served as a Group Leader and the Head of Division of Molecular Pathology. Since 2013, they have been working as a Professor of Molecular Experimental Oncogenetics and Cancer Therapeutics at Leiden University.
Jos Jonkers received their education in a chronological order. Jos attended Philips van Horne Scholengemeenschap from 1977 to 1983, where they studied Atheneum. After that, they pursued a degree in Molecular Sciences at Wageningen University & Research from 1983 to 1989, earning a M.Sc. degree. Their education continued at the University of Amsterdam from 1990 to 1996, where they completed their Ph.D. in Molecular Cancer Genetics.
