Erik Werner

Lead Engineer at Eigen Therapeutics

Erik Werner has a diverse work experience in the field of engineering and research. Erik is currently working as a Lead Engineer at Eigen Therapeutics since 2022. Prior to this, they served as a Software Engineer at Sequlite Genomics from 2021 to 2022.

Erik's academic and research experience includes working as a Postdoctoral Scholar at UC Irvine from 2021 to 2021, where they conducted research in the field of microfluidics. Erik also worked as a PhD Candidate at UC Irvine from 2015 to 2021, where they contributed to the development of a microfluidic droplet-on-demand array platform for drug discovery and led a collaborative project in polymer microfluidic microfabrication technology.

Before joining UC Irvine, they worked as an R&D Engineer at Vanderbilt University from 2013 to 2015. During this time, they focused on software engineering for microfluidic systems and introduced agile project management practices. Erik also served as a SyBBURE Research Fellow at Vanderbilt University from 2010 to 2013, where they developed microfluidic instrumentation and control software and optimized PDMS device microfabrication processes.

Erik's work experience also includes an internship as an Observer at The Andrews Institute in 2009, where they studied orthopedic surgery and shadowed reconstructive hand surgery.

Erik Werner attended Vanderbilt University from 2008 to 2012, where they pursued a Bachelor of Engineering (B.E.) degree in Bioengineering and Biomedical Engineering. Following this, from 2014 to 2021, Erik Werner enrolled at UC Irvine and obtained their Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree in Biomedical/Medical Engineering.
