Sam Bass has a diverse work experience spanning various industries and roles. Sam started their career as a Whitewater Raft Guide at Sierra Mac River Trips in 1998. Sam then worked as an Educational Technician at Holden Elementary School, where they assisted special needs students. From 2000 to 2002, Sam was an English Teacher, Sports Coach, and Trip Leader at Holderness School.
In 2004, Sam joined Time Inc. as an Editor at Skiing Magazine, where they worked as an assistant, associate, and senior editor. Sam was responsible for writing and editing house copy, managing freelance writers, and overseeing a gear-testing program.
Sam continued their career in ski magazines, joining Bonnier Corporation as a Senior Editor at Skiing Magazine from 2007 to 2010. During this time, they also became a Contributing Editor at Canoe & Kayak Magazine under TEN: The Enthusiast Network.
From 2010 to 2015, Sam held the position of Editor-in-Chief at Skiing Magazine under Active Interest Media. Subsequently, they joined Backbone Media, LLC in 2015 as an Editor and Content Director, where they established and managed a content division for the active-lifestyle PR agency.
Most recently, Sam worked as the Director of Marketing at Eldora Mountain Resort, starting in 2017. Overall, their experience includes editorial roles, teaching, coaching, content strategy, production, and account management. Sam has a strong background in the outdoor and active-lifestyle industries.
Sam Bass attended Holderness School from 1991 to 1994 and graduated with a high school diploma. From 1994 to 1998, Sam pursued a Bachelor's Degree in English Language with a writing emphasis at Colorado College. Additionally, in 1997, Sam completed a photojournalism semester program and earned a Certificate from the Salt Institute for Documentary Studies.
