Bobby Kovach has a diverse work experience that spans several industries. Bobby is currently working as a Manufacturing Engineer at Electric Hydrogen, a company focused on decarbonizing industrial sectors. Before that, they were the Founder and CEO of Direct Materials, which aimed to assist PhD students in their materials research and publication process.
Bobby also worked with the United States Department of Defense, where they held multiple roles as a Midshipman, including Platoon Commander, responsible for leadership and mentorship, as well as evaluation of team members. Bobby served in this position for several years.
In addition to their defense experience, Bobby contributed to green energy research as a Green Energy Research Assistant at the U.S. Department of Energy. Bobby developed a novel 3D cell structure and manufacturing process for solid oxide electrolysis cells, collaborating with various manufacturing companies.
At the Rochester Institute of Technology, Bobby had multiple roles, including Graduate Research Assistant, Graduate Teaching Assistant, and Student Tutor. Bobby worked on projects related to materials assembly, taught chemistry and engineering courses, and provided tutoring services.
Bobby also gained industry experience at Newtex, where they worked as a Mechanical Engineering Research Consulting Co-op, focusing on fire, flammability, and mechanical properties of advanced materials. Additionally, they worked at PCC Structurals as an Aerospace Process Engineer Co-op, analyzing data sets and conducting testing for casting processes.
Early in their career, Bobby served as the Bridgeport DEP Recruit Petty Officer in Charge with the United States Department of Defense.

Bobby Kovach's education history begins in 2014 when they attended the Center for Global Studies at Brien McMahon High School, where they focused on Japanese Studies. Moving forward, from 2018 to 2023, they enrolled at the Rochester Institute of Technology, earning a Bachelor of Science degree with a triple major in Leading Interdisciplinary Teams, Chemical Engineering, and Economics. During the same period, they also pursued their interest in the military by participating in the Navy/Marine ROTC program and studying Naval Science and Operations at the University of Rochester.
In 2022, Bobby Kovach obtained a Lean Six Sigma Green Belt Certification from the Rochester Institute of Technology. Continuing their education, they pursued a Master of Science degree in Materials Science & Engineering at the Rochester Institute of Technology from 2022 to 2023.
