James Laidler

James Laidler has a diverse work experience in data science and analytics. James is currently working as the Director of Data and Technology at Electrify Video Partners. Prior to this, they worked at Eligible.ai as the Lead Data Scientist, focusing on improving customer retention for mortgage brokers. At Eligible.ai, they developed predictive models for customer behavior and achieved a 12% reduction in fraud rate for clients while maintaining approval rates.

Before joining Eligible.ai, James worked at PayPal as a Senior Data Scientist, where they developed a Python library called Iguanas to streamline the client onboarding process. James also helped clients improve fraud detection and presented the performance of these models to clients.

Earlier in their career, James worked at Openreach in various roles, including Senior Strategic Analyst, Business Intelligence and Tactical Delivery Manager, and Field Performance Manager. In these roles, they leveraged data to optimize engineer visits, provided operational insights, generated forecasts for engineer productivity, and developed tools for monitoring the status of telephone exchanges.

James Laidler attended Imperial College London from 2010 to 2014, where they earned a Master of Science (MSci) degree in Physics. Prior to that, they attended Durham Johnston Sixth Form from 2007 to 2009, and Durham Johnston Comprehensive School from 2002 to 2007. In addition to their formal education, they also obtained various certifications, including ones in database engineering, Python development, and data science, among others.
