Frits de Vries has a strong background in research, engineering, and product development across diverse industries. Frits began their career working as a Designer-Draftsman at Webasto (Vermeulen Hollandia B.V.) in 1990, where they were responsible for NPD and engineering of automotive sunroof parts and subassemblies. Frits later served as a Designer and Lead Designer, generating new concepts and draft design layouts of large and complex assemblies and designing sunroof systems according to ISO-9001 standards. Frits then moved on to become the Head of Product Engineering, where they oversaw product engineering of automotive sunroofs and led project teams during the NPD process.
In 2000, Frits joined AMC - Academic Medical Center as a Groupleader in the Medical Technological Development department. In this role, they directed a team of product development technicians and collaborated with medical professionals to develop new medical instruments, systems, and equipment for scientific research.
Frits joined Covidien (Mallinckrodt Medical B.V.) Radiopharmaceuticals in 2007 as a Senior Project Manager. Here, they were responsible for managing multiple Capex/Opex projects for radiopharmaceutical production, including reporting to the MT and board, submitting project plans and capital expenditure requests, and forming and managing multidisciplinary project teams.
In 2011, Frits transitioned to Nucletron (an Elekta company) as a Development Manager for Treatment Delivery. In this role, they led R&D development teams and oversaw feasibility studies, new product developments, and the entire product lifecycle for Brachytherapy treatment delivery devices.
Frits joined Elekta in 2013 and took on various leadership roles. Frits served as the R&D Director for Devices - Brachytherapy, overseeing feasibility studies, new product developments, and R&D product lifecycle activities for Brachytherapy treatment delivery devices. Frits was later promoted to Chief Engineer - Brachytherapy, where they had overall responsibility for concept exploration, design quality, and technology selection for Brachytherapy products. In their most recent role, they became the VP and Head of Research & Engineering for Brachy Solutions at Elekta, taking on the additional responsibility of leading the Brachy Exploration Council.
Throughout their career, Frits has demonstrated their ability to lead and manage teams, develop innovative products, and collaborate with professionals in various disciplines.
Frits de Vries has a diverse education history. Frits began their education in 1978 at Marnix College, where they completed their senior general secondary education. Afterward, they attended HAN University of Applied Sciences from 1984 to 1989, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in the College of Automotive Engineering. In 1996, Frits attended Rijnhaave and completed a course on project management. Frits continued to enhance their skills by attending various training programs and obtaining certifications in areas such as PLC programming, 3D-CAD, NC programming, and CAM Hypermill V8.1. Frits completed a Higher professional education program in Process Management at ISBW in 2009. In 2010, they received training in GAMP 5 (Computerised Systems GxP Compliance) from ISPE (International Society of Pharmaceutical Engineering) and completed a course on CE/Machinery Directive 2006/42/EG from NEN. In 2013, Frits pursued a Master of Science degree in Business Administration with a focus on Sociotechnical Systems at Radboud University, which they completed in 2017. Frits also obtained additional certifications in areas like radiation safety, aseptic manufacturing, leading SAFe, and advanced leadership.
