James Polo

James A. Polo, MD, MBA, currently serves as the Vice President and Chief Medical Officer of Carelon Behavioral Health at Elevance Health, a position held since April 2023. Prior to this role, James held the position of Executive Medical Director at Regence BlueCross BlueShield of Oregon from August 2019 to March 2023, and held similar executive positions at Cambia Health Solutions and the Washington State Department of Social and Health Services. James's extensive experience in healthcare includes leadership roles within MultiCare Health System and significant service in the US Army, where James held various high-ranking medical positions. Academically, James received an MD from Uniformed Services University and an MBA from the University of Colorado Colorado Springs, along with additional degrees in strategic studies and a fellowship from Northwestern University.
