Melissa Clarke

Dr. Melissa Clarke currently serves as the VP and Chief Health Equity Officer at Elevance Health, where responsibilities include executing strategies to promote health equity through a comprehensive whole health approach. As President of BHE Group since October 2013, Dr. Clarke provides consulting services focused on patient engagement, health literacy, and population health to various healthcare organizations, with notable clients including the Gates Foundation and Howard University. Previous roles include Chief Population Health Officer and Senior Medical Director at 3M Health Information Systems, VP of Population Health and Provider Contracting at Medical Home Development Group, and Senior Medical Director at Active Health Management. Dr. Clarke has also contributed to medical education as the Assistant Dean at Howard University College of Medicine and has extensive experience as an attending physician in emergency medicine. Dr. Clarke holds an MD from the University of California, San Francisco, and a BA in Biology from Harvard University.
