Johanna Hemminki has been working in the field of education since 2007. Johanna began their career as a teacher for the City of Jyväskylä, where they taught pre-school to lukio classes, as well as substitute special class teacher, special needs teacher and Waldorf teacher. In 2011, they became a L2 Finnish Teacher at the Helsinki Vocational Adult Institute, where they coordinated vocational L2 Finnish courses and taught Finnish as a second language for adult immigrants. In 2013, they began working as a self-employed Educational Technology Specialist and Teacher Trainer, providing trainings in educational technology and ICT for public administration and educational institutions. In 2016, they founded Talkoot! A game-based learning environment, and also became a Teacher at the Helsinki Skills Center, where they were responsible for pedagogical development, coaching skills assessments and skills recognition. Johanna designed new kinds of learning environments and innovations for combining language learning and vocational training, for instance VR vocational workshops and language tutor robots. Johanna also trained teachers in ICT skills and portfolio pedagogy. In 2017, Johanna Hemminki founded Utelias Technologies Oy and became its Founder & CEO.
Johanna Hemminki is currently enrolled at the University of Jyväskylä, pursuing a degree in Information Technology. Johanna also holds a Master's degree in Finnish Language and Literature from the same university.
