Paul Shannon

Paul Shannon has over 15 years of experience in the technology industry. Paul is currently the Head of Technology & Innovation at eLife Sciences Publications, Ltd. Prior to this, they served as the VP Technology at 7digital from August 2011 to August 2016. In this role, they led the Technology Team and provided strategic technical direction to the organisation. Paul also worked on organisational goals, priorities and support from a technology perspective as part of the management team.

Shannon has also held positions as an Agile Software Developer at Codeweavers Limited from December 2004 to August 2011 and as a Web Applications Developer at Wizcom from March 2004 to December 2004. Paul began their career as a Trainee Law Cost Draftsman at John M Hayes Partnership from September 2003 to March 2004.

Throughout their career, Shannon has been focused on providing leadership to technology teams on both a personal and technical level. Paul is an expert in Continuous Improvement, Test Driven Development, Continuous Delivery, Lean Software Development, Kanban, Pair Programming and working in Self-Managed Teams.

Shannon attended Brookfield Community School and Welbeck Road Infant School before going on to study computer science at the University of Nottingham, where they earned their BSc.

Paul Shannon reports to Damian Pattinson, Executive Director. They work with Godwyns Onwucheckwa - Head of Communities, Paul Kelly - Consultant Director of Finance & Administration, and Rowena Walton - Head of Marketing & Communications. Some individuals on their team include Chris Wilkinson - Senior Systems Developer, Nathan Lisgo - Staff Engineer, and Scott Aubrey - Tech Lead Manager.
