Michal Garcarz

Michal Garcarz has a diverse range of work experience starting in 1996 as a Network Administrator. Michal has worked at various companies, including the University of Economics and Engineering in Legionowo, CC Open Computer Systems Ltd., Dynamic Generation, Agora S.A., ITU-ITC, and the Institute of Microelectronics and Optoelectronics at Warsaw University of Technology.

Garcarz has held several roles during their time at Cisco, including TAC Engineer, TAC AAA Lead for Krakow, Security Operations Center Technical Leader, Managed Security Services Architect, and Cisco ML Engineering Technical Leader. Michal has been involved in various security-related tasks such as handling escalated cases, working on improving existing security products, delivering training and presentations, and sharing knowledge through internal forums and conferences.

Additionally, Garcarz co-founded and invested in sec.one, a company that provides Threat Hunting services and focuses on finding attacks rather than just delivering platforms. Michal also currently works at Elisity as a Distinguished Engineer, where they are involved in developing a multi-vendor network micro-segmentation solution and implementing Zero Trust policies.

Michal Garcarz has a strong educational background in the field of technology and computer systems. Michal started their education journey in 1995 at the Technical School of Electronics, where they completed their high school education with a specialization in Electronics with Computer Systems. Following that, they pursued further studies at the Warsaw University of Technology from 2000 to 2006, earning a Master's degree in Computing Systems: Architecture and Programming.

Michal then continued their academic pursuits and obtained a Ph.D. from the Warsaw University of Technology. Their Ph.D. research focused on DDOS attacks and defense. This research, which took place from 2006 to 2008, demonstrates their expertise in cybersecurity and the importance of safeguarding against cyber threats.
