José Jasán Nieves is an accomplished journalist and editor with extensive experience in the media landscape of Cuba. Currently serving as the Editor in Chief at elTOQUE Cuba since January 2017, José also holds the position of ICFJ Knight Fellow at the International Center for Journalists, where efforts focus on pioneering sustainable journalism for exiled newsrooms. Additionally, José is the General Coordinator for Colectivo +Voces, a startup that amplifies voices through various alternative digital media in Cuba. Previous roles include multimedia journalist at RNW Media and web editor at OnCuba, alongside freelance journalism work. José holds a Licenciatura in Periodismo from Universidad Central Marta Abreu de Las Villas and is furthering education as a Fellow in Executive Leadership at the Craig Newmark Graduate School of Journalism at CUNY.
