Vice President Research and Development- In Vitro Diagnostics at Elypta

Karin Mattsson has a diverse and extensive work experience in the field of in vitro diagnostics. Karin is currently working as the Vice President of Research and Development at Elypta since September 2019. Prior to that, they worked as the Director of Research and Development at Biovica International AB from February 2017 to September 2019.

Before their role at Biovica, Karin held several positions at Olerup SSP. From October 2012 to January 2017, they served as the Deputy Head of R&D and Product Development Manager for CareDx, where they were responsible for the development of molecular in vitro diagnostic tests for genomic tissue typing for transplantation and diagnosis of HLA-associated diseases.

From April 2011 to September 2012, Karin worked as a Product Development Manager and Product Development Scientist for In Vitro Diagnostics at Olerup SSP and Absorber AB. In this role, they were involved in the development of in vitro diagnostic tests for genomic HLA typing and a diagnostic assay for quantification of antibody titers in plasma derived pharmaceuticals and transplantation.

Prior to Olerup SSP and Absorber AB, Karin worked at Biovator AB as a Project Manager and Project Coordinator for in vitro diagnostics from January 2006 to April 2011. During their time there, they were responsible for the research and development of one of the company's product lines and managed a collaborative European project for the development of in vitro methods for risk assessment.

In 2005, Karin briefly worked as a Project Manager at Athera Biotechnologies AB, where they were responsible for writing and assembling a grant application for a product development project in in vitro diagnostic tests and therapeutics. The project received funding.

Karin's career began at Karolinska Institutet, where they worked as a Scientist (post doc) from January 2004 to December 2004. Karin conducted studies on cellular effects by drug candidates and investigated the involvement of the Human Herpesvirus-8 (HHV-8) in tumor development. Karin also worked as a PhD student from October 1998 to December 2003, conducting research in cell- and tumor biology.

Before joining Karolinska Institutet, Karin worked as a Molecular Biologist at Uppsala University from January 1998 to August 1998. Karin started their career as a Biomedical Scientist at the National Veterinary Institute, Sweden, where they worked from June 1997 to August 1997 and again from October 1994 to December 1995.

Overall, Karin Mattsson has a wealth of experience in research and development in the field of in vitro diagnostics, with a focus on genomic tissue typing, molecular diagnostic tests, and risk assessment methods.

Karin Mattsson completed their education history with a Doctor of Philosophy - PhD degree in Cell- and tumour biology from Karolinska Institutet, which they attended from 1998 to 2003. Prior to that, they obtained their Master's degree in Molecular biology from Uppsala University, where they studied from 1994 to 1998. Earlier in their education, Karin attended Vårdhögskolan Sundsvall from 1990 to 1992, although their degree or field of study during this period is not specified.
