Jon Becker has worked in a variety of roles in the energy and finance sectors. In 2017, they began working as a Research Economist at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL), where they were tasked with developing and maintaining NREL's Scalable Linked Dynamic Equilibrium (SLiDE) model. In 2020, they became a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Colorado School of Mines, where they modified an overlapping generations model to explore transitions under different environmental policy shocks. In 2019, they worked as a Researcher for the Critical Materials Institute. Prior to this, they were an Investor/Co-Founder for eMedCert in 2014 and a Summer Commodities Associate for Morgan Stanley in 2016. Jon also held positions at TransMarket Group, L.L.C. as a Junior Trader in 2011, Nico Holdings LLC as an Equity Options Trading Assistant/SPX Arb Clerk in 2011, Lansing Trade Group, LLC as a Trader/Merchant Trainee in 2010, and Pearl Street Venture Funds as an Associate Intern in 2009. Jon'sfirst professional role was as an Intern at BWR Public Relations in 2008.
Jon Becker attended Purdue University from 2006 to 2010, where they earned a BS in Economics with minors in Finance and Management. Jon then pursued a Master of Science in Mineral and Energy Economics at the Colorado School of Mines from 2015 to 2017. Jon continued their education at the Colorado School of Mines, graduating with a Doctor of Philosophy in Mineral and Energy Economics in 2020.
